15 Goats assembled at the trail head, which is about 1 mile up the road from our usual parking area for Tubal Cain and Dirty Face Ridge trails. It is marked as trail 300, and even has a bulletin board, but no sign in. The trail follows a long abandoned logging road for about ¼ mile before dropping to the stream and beginning the climb. The trail is a true way trail with little if any improvement, but is still very passable and has level spots between climbs. It joins the trail down from the Mt. Townsend/Camp Windy trail after about 2 miles.

According to John’s GPS the hike was about 7.5 miles with about 3500 feet of elevation gain and loss. The top of the peak above the lake is at 6,000 feet. Weather was perfect and clear.

Keep on hiking,
