After being turned back on SR 16 because of road closure a small splinter group of the MG’s – 2 to be exact – decided to get out and shake off the accumulated cabin fever. Even though a little bit late for the annual Pancake Breakfast at Green Mountain they hiked up the Wildcat Trail and endured the slush and icy spots on the trail.
The sun was out, and it felt just great to be in the open air, immersed in the fragrance of fir trees. They had to turn around about a mile from the top as a serious wind picked up and threatened to uproot the remaining stand of trees.
All in all, they logged about 6 miles. Green Mountain by way of the Wildcat Lake Trailhead, not bad for a late afternoon ‘stroll’!
Happy Hiking!!
